Free Golden Acrylics Lecture and Demonstration (2 HOURS) The Golden free lecture and demonstration is a fun and fast-paced informative educational presentation on acrylic paints and all the related products from mediums to gels and pastes! The lecture covers information about the different types of acrylic paint formulations, pigments, and their related viscosities, as well as color theory and color reality, drying time, and health & safety. Learn how acrylics can be used as grounds for other media, such as watercolor and colored pencil or pastels and so much more. The lecture will also cover a technical review of acrylics and their varied application possibilities. Various acrylic products and techniques will be demonstrated to enrich your understanding of the medium, among these you will learn basic tips for how to extend paint to save money and how to mix paints with gels and pastes to create exciting textures. From traditional painting to contemporary and on to mixed media, acrylics are infinitely versatile. We will also review Golden's newest products, including the QoR Watercolors, High Flow Acrylics and the OPEN Acrylics. We will also discuss Golden’s Williamsburg Handmade Oil paints. Discover the possibilities and become inspired with how these fabulous materials and fresh new insights can be added to your own creative process. Monoprinting with Golden Working Artist Kevin Greeland and Golden QoR Watercolors: Discover printmaking without a press; in this fun fast passed workshop we will spend our day printing; with QoR Watercolors on Dura-Lar Plates. Whether you are into abstraction or realism these methods will easily fit into your creative process. This unique workshop will focus on innovative techniques to enable printing without a press; the final artwork can stand on its own merit or be incorporated into mixed media works, collage or journaling. And if you have never explored QoR Watercolors then this is your chance. Come prepared to print because that’s what this class is all about. All levels welcome! Printmaking with OPEN Acrylics

Monoprinting with OPEN Acrylics A fast paced, fun 2-hour session creating beautiful prints without a press! We’ll use Golden OPEN Acrylics on Gelli Plates to create realistic or abstract artistic visions. You’ll learn what makes OPEN so unique and why it is ideally suited for this printing method. Learn how to ink the plates, paint on the plates and of course printing from the plates and preserving them. Monoprinting is a unique method of working in multiple images, incorporating the immediacy of painting with printmaking methods by repeating and reworking personal imagery and symbols. You’ll leave with lots of ideas and the potential of combining the various techniques and other methods of printmaking like an Intaglio Drypoint Etching print with a QoR Watercolor Print or a Drypoint print with a Gelli Plate print along with OPEN and so much more!

Monoprinting is a fun and spontaneous way of expressing your inner muse and you can work from realistic to abstract, there are infinite possibilities. Layering and Mixed Media Approaches to Acrylic Painting

Explore new and innovative approaches to collage and painting using Golden acrylic mediums and pigments with Golden Working Artist Kevin Greeland. Have you struggled with incorporating digital media and or collage into your paintings? Do you have trouble figuring out how to build layers within your work? Then this class is for you with step-by-step procedures and lots of hands on exercises. We’ll explore image transfers using wet mediums and creating new surface for painting and collage. Learn the art and mechanics of making dynamic "Gel Skins" for use in collage and to enhance mixed media painting skills. We will also explore a variety of methods for transferring images directly to a variety of substrates from digital printing to Monoprints with OPEN Acrylics. This class is heavy on process and materials to help the students become familiar and comfortable with a variety of image making techniques. Learn the fundamentals of layering with acrylic paints and mediums with a number of comprehensive painting exercises. Designed to expand your skills and unlock your creativity. Personal direction is emphasized. All skill levels welcome, most materials provided by the instructor plus a Free Sample bag of Golden products. 


Iridescents, Interference, Rust and Metal Effects

Discover the exciting realm of Golden's Iridescent and Interference Colors in this hands-on workshop. This class will focus on how to incorporate the bold metallic look of the iridescent colors and the subtle shimmer of the interference colors in your painting projects. Learn how you can manipulate the colors by themselves and how to change their behavior by mixing them with other pigments and acrylic gels. We will be working with varying viscosities of paints and gels to create a range of flat and sculpted surfaces. Students will also learn how to simulate weathered metals and woods, creating rust and patina effects. Student will make several small paintings using acrylic products provided by Golden Paints with tools and provided by the instructor. All levels are welcome, the goal is to leave with small sample painting where each student had the opportunity to try various Golden products to see how they could fit into their current painting practice or provide new ideas and insights.
