...oh those delicious "Golden" pears!

Students from my Mixed Media Painting class were introduced to High Flow Acrylic paints, Fluid Acrylic paints, and a number of different grounds and pastes all made by Golden Artist Colors. The students painted on these various grounds and pastes to create some beautiful experiments using the pear as our subject.

Below are some examples of the “Golden” Pears created with both the High Flows and the Fluids on various grounds and pastes.

A pear painted on Crackle Paste.

Pear painted on Glass Bead Gel, the board was first painted in Naples Yellow.

Pear painted on Absorbent Ground, aka “Liquid Watercolor Paper” and in this case tinted with fluid Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold.

Pear painted on Coarse Molding Paste.

Pear painted on Acrylic Ground for Pastels. This was also tinted with one of my favorite colors Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold.

Pear painted on Fiber paste.

…and a two more examples of students painting something other than pears on their Crackle Paste boards and Fiber Paste boards.

Alligators on Crackle Paste seems a natural fit and an abstract image on Fiber Paste.

…and a heart because we love Golden and Golden’s Crackle Paste.

Kevin Greeland

Kevin Greeland is a practicing artist and art educator living in Southern California. Kevin teaches a variety of classes in acrylic painting, bookmaking and mixed media approaches to painting and sculpture. Kevin is a certified Working Artist for Golden Artist Colors, Inc. His studio offers a wide selection of classes, workshops, and a professional lecture and demonstration series for Golden Artist Colors, Inc.

Kevin holds a Master of Fine Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education degree. Kevin has taught art at Memphis College of Art and Vanderbilt University where he was also the Assistant Director of the Sarratt Studio Arts Program. He has taught art in public schools in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee and in various museum settings and art centers throughout the United States. In the 2002-2003 school year he was recognized as an outstanding art educator with a Teacher of the Year Award from Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Public Schools. Kevin was also the owner of Parkland Art Boutique & Gallery, originally located in Sarasota, Florida.

Kevin was the recipient of a Hohenberg European Travel Fellowship and has participated in a number of residency programs, including a program at Wackers Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Kevin has received numerous awards; his artwork includes painting, printmaking, handmade books, sculpture, and installations.
