With so many Golden acrylics products to pick from it’s sometimes difficult to know where to begin? In this fun 2-day workshop we will explore Golden products through a series of small paintings.
A fun and fast paced one-day session creating beautiful prints without a press and paintings! We’ll use Golden OPEN Acrylics on Gelli Plates to create realistic or abstract artistic visions. You’ll learn what makes OPEN so unique and why it is ideally suited for this printing method. Weather abstract or painterly this method works great with any style. Learn how to ink the plates, paint on the plates and printing from the plates. We’ll also create a beautiful journal incorporating your prints and paintings.
Monoprinting is a unique method of working in multiple images, incorporating the immediacy of painting with printmaking methods by repeating and reworking personal imagery and symbols. You’ll leave with lots of ideas and the potential of combining the various techniques and other methods into your printmaking and painting.
I’ll supply the OPEN paint, Gelli plates, and brushes and all related tools.

In this fun, fast paced one day session you will learn valuable information about QoR watercolors, guiding you through the basics while opening up new possibilities. Learn the unique properties of watercolor, and the new preparation grounds that transform any surface, canvas or wood panel into a watercolor friendly one. Discover new watercolor mediums for unusual effects on paper, canvas and wood panels. Check out the amazing new grounds to prepare contemporary surfaces for painting, drawing, pastel and mixed water media. All students will create a beautiful watercolor journal. We will spend some time creating watercolor prints, prints without a press. We’ll start with a warm up exercises using QoR Watercolors to do a small painting or two. Next we’ll take it up a notch and dive into QoR Watercolors on Dura-Lar Plates and create beautiful Monoprints.
You’ll leave with lots of ideas and the potential of combining the various techniques and other methods of painting and printmaking plus your own watercolor journal and several watercolor prints and paintings. I will supply the QoR Watercolors, the various grounds and mediums and some brushes and all the related tools.

Kevin Greeland is a practicing artist and art educator living in Southern California. Kevin teaches a variety of classes in acrylic painting, bookmaking and mixed media approaches to painting and sculpture. Kevin is a certified Working Artist for Golden Artist Colors, Inc. His studio offers a wide selection of classes, workshops, and a professional lecture and demonstration series for Golden Artist Colors, Inc.
Kevin holds a Master of Fine Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education degree. Kevin has taught art at Memphis College of Art and Vanderbilt University where he was also the Assistant Director of the Sarratt Studio Arts Program. He has taught art in public schools in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee and in various museum settings and art centers throughout the United States. In the 2002-2003 school year he was recognized as an outstanding art educator with a Teacher of the Year Award from Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Public Schools. Kevin was also the owner of Parkland Art Boutique & Gallery, originally located in Sarasota, Florida.
Kevin was the recipient of a Hohenberg European Travel Fellowship and has participated in a number of residency programs, including a program at Wackers Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Kevin has received numerous awards; his artwork includes painting, printmaking, handmade books, sculpture, and installations.
